Is it just me or does anyone else 'carry' when at home?

People have called me different, crazy, or eccentric for being a car fanatic over the years but I wondered about a habit I have. I love to carry my 'friend' around with me when I'm at home, am I alone in this? Of course I have no kids at home anymore either!

Carry what?

Yes, I know.......

Heres what I think....If you feel you need that security at home.......MOVE.....You are in a bad neighborhood

If it just makes you feel more like a man, you have other issues.

Don't carry at home, but my two friends are always within reach even in the garage. We're living in carzy times!!

if i read this right, then yes i carry a little buddy in my pocket, it is not because of nabors it's because i grew up in texas and there is a lot of snakes, i don't like snakes and for that matter snakes in the grass either.

Don't know about where you are but here the bad guys typically target the better neighborhoods, they damn sure ain't robbing each other!

Cant put it in my pocket but also have many around the farm within my reach if needed. As far as moving then they win if you do that. Your home is your castle whereveer you live.

Sometimes carry but mostly just reach around here:) 9 out of 10 households are like that around here and most folks know it..........or they find out pretty quick[ddd:D Makes for a low crime rate.

We had a new neighbor move into the house next door a couple of years ago. He was a Texas Ranger (not the baseball player). First time i went over there to say hi and introduce myself, he answered the door wearing jeans, a polo shirt, a cowboy hat, and his side arm.

I was amused by this (but not to his face). My first thought was "dude, you're at home, take a load off". Then my imagination went crazy - pictured him mowing his lawn with his side arm, and went even further and jokingly said that he probably has sex with his wife with his side arm still around his waste and his cowboy hat still on his head.

Was a nice guy, but got the impression that he was untrusting, and was constantly trying to read or analyze me.

I'm reminded of this story a friend of mine sent me recently.....

A guy makes a rolling stop at a stop sign, and gets pulled over by the local policeman.

The guy hands the cop his driver's license, insurance verification, plus his concealed carry permit.

"Okay, Mr. Smith," the cop says, "I see your CCW permit. Are you carrying today?"

"Yes, I am."

"Well then, better tell me what you got."

Smith says, "Well, I got a .357 revolver in my inside coat pocket.

There's a 9mm semi-auto in the glove box. And, I've got a .22 magnum derringer in my right boot."

"Okay," the cop says. "Anything else?"

"Yeah, back in the trunk, there's an AR15 and a shotgun. That's about it."

"Mr. Smith, are you on your way to or from a gun range...?"

"Nope."

[S"Well then, what are you afraid of....?"

Not a freakin thing officer:D

I don't actually carry when I'm home but one of my pals in never far away. H-town has had several home invasions lately & even one in my own neighborhood. I pity the poor fool who tries to break into the ole Tripper's place!:eek::eek:

I carry, it's my right as an American.

Our founding fathers wouldn't have put it in the Constitution if they didn't think Americans needed it.

I have firearms easily accesible in my home.

One of my hobbies is training dogs. Nothing 2 or 4 legs can get near my home without my Catahoula knowing about it and my neighbors know it too. My Rottweiler is very well trained and there is no doupt in my mind that she could buy me time to arm myself. So, I'm comfortable w/o carring at home.

We all find our own level of comfort and safety.

ive got a buddy that keeps a machete in his fridge, a gun at arms reach at all times and a smalll arsenal -- he also has a small cannon... just stating this to let you know -- you arent all that eccentric in this area...
its only paranoia until something happens then it becomes preparedness.

Don't need it to feel like a man or to feel safe from the neighbors.....just think about the people who are not you friends or neighbors....look up this story, things like this happen to good people all the time. This guy was a Dr. and lived in a very upscale neighborhood. Also not very far from my neighborhood. So....yea, I carry all the time.

Toad, I wasn't sure what you were getting at. Sometimes the obvious goes over my head! I don't carry, but my stuff is easily accessible. Wife carries a 38 when she goes out and I'm glad she does!. Thinking about a permit because I go into some really shady areas where I work.....you never know how things will turn out with the law these days...but I do know that I will do whatever is necessary to protect my family and myself!..I remember reading about an elderly ex marine a while back. Can't remember if he was local or not, but he was awakened one night so he went to the stairs to look downstairs an see what the ruckus was. Two lowlifes had broken into his home and when they saw him they took a shot at him. He was armed and returned fire. They missed, he didn't. One made it to the outside bushes where he crawled into and died. The other made it to the hospital where he wad treated and promptly arrested! One for the good guys! [cl..CR:D
