got my torque thingy
first thing it opened it up and gave her a few shots of grease.
got the first wheel off and everything looks great
man was i glad to see that!

I need one of those. How much it set you back Billy? Where did you order it from, eBay?

ebay
$67 free shipping
i am glad i pulled the big snap ring and re greased it before i used it
it seemed like it should have lotsa grease

my hydraulic brake switch leaked
replaced that and got some speedbleeders
part no.dorman 12707
after much thought and looking at prices /availability of parts
eventually i am installing disc brakes on this
about $600 per axle:eek:
and taller gears
about $450 per axle:eek:
thats a lotta freakin moolah
but before any of that happens i need to replace all the seals and possibly the bearings in the t/c and tranny
the seals are cheap
but those bearings arent
and i will fill them with 50w synthetic tranny oil
i have decided i dont need power steering. maybe someday
i bet about $3000 will get me right about where i want to be

I don`t doubt you,I`ve just never seen it on them before.I searched until my eyes crossed then gave up.It is an awsome looking rig`I think I`m jealous.

Those lift blocks on the front axle scare me Billy. Is there any room in the budget to fix that?

I owe you a apology
You are right
Those blocks should not be there
In my inexperience I thought it was stock.
After looking closely it looks like the oil pan will be resting on the axle if I take the blocks out.
I don't know what to do.

i dont know crap about these things
never even seen one of these trucks before
except in movies
and i didnt really look at em then

Hey Billy, nice Truck!

I had a serious love affair with a 1951 Dodge M-37. I installed a 350 hp Chev small block, four speed, NP 205. power steering and power brakes, talk column, etc etc... Daily driver for five years. Drove the hell out of it for ten years. Let me know if you have questions, I will check to see if I have memories!

I rebuilt both differentials. big job. The brakes in those things are kinda odd and take a bit to keep adjusted ... manually adjusted.

It was due for a total over haul and I was divorcing. So, as you can see it went down the road.

The bus I built and hauled the truck with.

I miss the bus. Very tough vehicle.
