Like a few others on here, the last couple of years have been rough on this old fart. It started with the divorce and having to sell the house and my cars, and about the same time, after 15 years servicing photo processing equipment, work started drying up and I got laid off three times in a two year period. Then the heart attack didn't help matters that much. So the last three and a half years I've been doing a little of this and a little of that and working at jobs that just plain suck trying to keep my head above water.

Well, it seems that things may have taken a bit of a turn for the better finally. I just accepted a job offer in the milling department of company that makes items used in the health care industry. I've never been in a machine shop that was as clean as this place. Heck the line "you could eat off the floors" pretty much describes this place. I've never run a CNC mill before (the old Rockwell manual mill I have doesn't even come close), but I have a strong mechanical background and I guess I impressed them enough that they are willing to train me on the mills. The starting salary is close to what I was making after all those years in the photo industry, so I couldn't be happier right now (well...yes I could be happier, but that would involve a cute redhead...or brunette...or blonde:D)

OldGold and some of the others who have hit some hard times...keep the faith in God and keep plugging away, things will turn around.

Ah good news

Like you said in your post "Keep The Faith Brother". Good to hear things are working out for you. When does the next project get started?

Congrats RoddinRon, thats good to hear. Any little sunshine is great!

P.S. If you can post pictures on here, (being the chore it is) you will not have a problem programming or running a CNC Mill. It's really just basic mathmatics.

Best of Luck!!

That's really good to hear Ron. You've gotten all the things that can hit you out of the way (divorce, heart attack, job loss, etc) so life should be a breeze from here on in. :D:D

Good luck with the new job.

Don

Thanks guys. I'm hoping that the breeze Don mentioned is blowing the right way and things keep going the right direction.

Ike, the next project is to finish the 40 Studebaker Commander I started (there is a thread in the build section some where) and yes....I promise to have lots of pictures as I continue on with it

Bob, Willowbilly3 and others....they say the mind is the first thing to go and the second is...........well in either case there are somethings I won't forget.

Old Gold...thank you. Mathmatics are one thing I've got a pretty good handle on. You keep your head up and things will turn around for you too.

Thank you again to all of you

Ron good news on the job. Sounds like the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel.
Interesting how fast things can change. I am in the dental supply industry, up till about five years ago we used to sell three to five film processors a month plus the up keep on hundreds of those still in use. Last year I don't think we sold more than two. Digital Xray is everywhere now and those that still use film are getting few and far between.

Sounds like you'll fit right in on the new job.
