please tell me whats wrong with my thinking
- the more i look at older jeep frames and rolling chassis
the more i think theyre almost already set up for
building a cool fenderless rod on.
the engines are already set farther back on the frame
and you can score and old AMC for them - with a little
luck the I4 IRON DUKE :) :) :)
the only problem i foresee is the wheelbase is a little short
but thats not a big deal...
what am i missing?

the pic you're showing is prob. a high dollar piece of history, that appears to be a restoration ......

also alot of the cj's out there seem to be rust-prone, but i do understand what your asking, but i don't think it would be as simple as building one from scratch honestly... (just my $.02)

Had a few jeeps and everything is simple on it. Easy body removal and not alot of extra stuff. Had considered it awhile back. If ya got a jeep i would do it.

well - i can horse trade for a 66 jeep cj5 - and think that with just a truck cab and some spare parts i could make something fierce from it.

some sort of illegitimate child of these two ideas

Jeeps are cool! I have a 51 Willys panel truck that the body is coming off of soon. Only about 8 bolts. I like the idea of no fenders, or hood for that matter. I want to try to pattern my build after the one shown below. I like it's attitude a lot.
I came close to doing a long road trip from MD to Kansas to get two Willys wagons for $500. One of them has already had the body removed and new sheet metal put in the floors. Let me know if you want the particulars of where and who. If I were closer than 12 hrs and had a way to move 2 vehicles I would probably be going myself.

1947 Willys jeep frame

Here's a pic of my 47 willys frame, the frame is heavy duty, with spring over front end. A natural for a rat rod ...
