I unbolted and dropped the crossmember yesterday. 1953 must have been all about wrenches because i could only get a ratchet on 2 of the 16 bolts. Ive read how all you have to do is unbolt and put in the i beam, not the case. The upper controls touch the frame, so the frame has to be notched. The alignment will be way off so the tie rod will have to be scewed way out to straighten the wheels. I lengthened the brake lines when i replaced them so thats done but there is fabrication involved raising the front old school style. Getting the factory bolts out was a full day job, couldn't get a grinder or a saw in there. I cant believe sometimes the things i go through to get things the way i like them.
