The day drag racing changed....(remember this Doc?)

Thanks for thinking of me... but no, I don't remember.

I was 4 years old in 1970. Lions was a helluva long ways to go on a Big Wheel and a peanut butter sandwich... but, I made it all the way to 7th Avenue (approx. 300 ft) before the Sheriff (Dad) collared me and ruined my plans. [ddd

I am a big fan of drag racing and wish I were born a generation sooner, which makes me a nostalgia nut of sorts.

Thanks for the photo Doc and sorry didn't mean to imply that you are
an old codger like some of us... I was in the 11th grade when this
happened and followed drag racing as closely as allowed with the info
available. When seeing these events now it takes me back to the things
I heard about but only got to see limited pic....amazing so much history
and info now at your finger tips.

Garlitts lost half a foot in that one and pioneered the rear engined dragster because of it. He was never going to have a clutch blow right between his legs again. Smart man.

If youare every in florida the Don Garlits museum in Ocala is a must see.I've been three times and I would go again if I had the opportunity.

He's had it out a few times for tuning and as put it "driver training".
The real thing May 7, Auto Club Dragway Fontana, Ca
I think he's in the 7 sec class, not sure.
He wanted 7.5 but couldn't get the HP down enough[S
