How about if the weight was reduced to be the same or less than the original? I can still think of potential issues, like the heavy fist on the end of the lever...Ever us a cheater bar to break a stuck bolt loose? It's the same process.
The law of the lever shows that if the distance from the fulcrum to where the input force is applied is greater than the distance from the fulcrum to where the output force is applied, then the lever amplifies the input force.
In other words, extra length x extra weight = lots more force, which is no bueno for a column shifted car. Unless you want it dropping into low gear when you hit a bump at highway speed...
