Yeah it's cruddy and rusty but free is cool.

Look at that, it even jumped right up on your trailer and tied itself down for the ride. It must have known it found a good home with you. I had a dog like that once.

Your friend in the back liked it so much, he jumped right out of his pants!

Nice score. What are your plans for it?

81 low rider. It actually belongs to a friend but he doesn't ride and ask me to take it and get it going, and ride it as long as I want. It doesn't need mych, just ben sitting a few years. Also I am going to see if I can get rid of the pink paint job and drag bars. Foreward controls if I can find some on the cheap and maybe spoke wheels.

Yeah, shovelhead.
I had it fired off today with jumpers and it sounds pretty good but the S&S is too fat I think. Blows a bit of black smoke.
79-81 was really crappy years for Harley. AMF had lost interest and their quality control was in the toilet. Most of the bikes needed work right out of the crate I heard. I think 82 was the year Willey G. stepped back in and started the "just in time" manufacturing process.
The shifter and brake pedal linkage is really sloppy and the throttle cable snapped when I was running it up.

Yeah , yer right about AMF.. they almost ruined Harley's.. Wille G brought out the 84' Sturgis lowrider, belt drive.. that turned things around. Check the needle position on the carb slide, might be to high for yer altitude. I ride whenever I can, my 98 Softail is a lil ' hotrod..:D

I rode it about 7 miles today, didn't go too far with the 06 tags.
I'm not real crazy about the ride. With the lowrider rake, what I think might be 2" over tubes and those narrow drag bars, all makes the forks floppy at low speeds. I also don't like the high gearing these bikes had, 1st seems more like second when taking off. And the foot controls need to be forward.
I think a decent set of bars and a 23 tooth counter sprocket would make a huge difference. I guess I'll run down to Sturgis and see what I can find, and maybe a different seat.
I just feel a lot more comfortable on an FLH framed bike. You wouldn't think that 2 degrees of rake would make that much difference but it does.

Nice. I like the custom touches. What year is it? Most of my riding I did on a 1970 FLH. It was a great bike. I also had an almost new 1980 Sturgis that was mostly a pos and a 42 servicar that was a hoot. A few other flattys and K models that never got finnished.

Neat photos WB3. My FLH is a 91. I've got several multi-thousand mile trips on it. I find it more comfortable to ride on trips than the previous bikes I've had.

One of these guys is me :)
