Looks like the tree huggers are trying to get rid of all the "old junk" sitting around, and they are starting in your backyard.:mad::mad::mad:

Don

Looks like good engines are going to be scrapped too!!!!

Dealers must take the old cars and trucks traded to them and turn them over to salvage operations. The salvagers will get the vehicles for free and are supposed to recycle everything but the engines.

Not lookin' 4 me!!!

Don,
Tehy're not lookin' for me but we also have a number to report smoking cars... Smoking Vehicle Program 1-800-453-SMOG. This is no joke! Only thing is... I haven't seen a smoking car in a long long time! They'll kill that $3500 deal B4 long because people will get jealous that other people will get something they can't!

The smokers around here are all those big tall diesel trucks that spue black soote everywhere. A normally running truck should burn clean at take off, but a truck that has been chipped and the fuel management curve has been altered, will blow black soote everywhere.
I just simply love this action. Now, if I am at a light and someone with the little d!kc syndrom goes by belching black into my car, guess what, I will be calling the county hotline. Nothing worst then having your face and car filled with black stinking soote. Once you have been reported to the hotline, and they send you the letter, you now have 10 working days to bring your ride into the state certified immission center. If you rig does not pass then, you now have 30 days to rectifie this situation, or else your registration will be revoked. So, yes, I am a one of those phawk heads who will put my foot down against all the black soote blowers. I will not let a single one of these rigs go unnoticed.

Have fun everyone..........:D.....cause I am.........lol......hahahahaha

Maximo

Good luck on that one Maximo. American truckers go through rigid, and I mean RIGID inspections. That inspection sticker on the windshield means nothing to the DOT. DOT can pulled them over at any given time for a routine inspection, and the driver can be sent to a local clinic for a blood/breath test. All trucks have to stop at weigh stations coming into and out of states. The three major things that DOT cops are looking for is weight, lights, and black smoke/soot emissions on take-off. One puff and the truck gets pulled off to the impound area and can't be driven off until the correction is made and approved by them.

Now the Mexican trucks don't go through the same inspections. If they have working brakes and lights, they pass. They can spew all the crap they want. They breeze right past our weigh stations. When stopped for passing it, they say "No comprende senior".

It's the local truck that doesn't go out of state that is the problem. They don't go over the scales at the weigh stations, so they can load it heavier than legal limits. This loads the engine down and causes an unclean burn and lots of smoke/soot as they go through the gears. By the time you call it in, and the DOT gets involved, the truck has been emptied, there's no load, so now it burns clean and legal.

If you call one in, try to get photos with the truck company name and truck number, along with the smoke. Keep in mind, local cops can't do anything. Commercial trucks are governed by DOT.
