ok Gurus,
recently one of these carbs has come up for sale near me.
this model suits a 4.3L or 262cui V6 . Now a Stude 259 is similar , and while ive rebuilt and the stude runs gooder with the 1403 currently fitted, (im happy with it) at 500cfm this carb seems a little overkill .. <-- am i correct thinking these Edelbrocks only drink what the engine is asking for?
As near as i can find, uncle google suggests The Merc 9600S is a Weber or Carter and probably a copy (?) of a Edelbrock. having half a clue, i checked Edelbrock rebuild kits, and blow me down with a feather ,if the parts look identical ...
im left wondering is there some dark backroom deal done here with Merc , Carter, Weber and Edelbrock .
And would this carb work street and not puddle use?
overthinking on my part causes me to wonder if theres is a max RPM the Merc carb will run to ... but some little man poking the back of head says dont be silly .. stock studes dont go too much over 4500 anyway ..
thoughts anyone?
