I'm not saying a home made hood ornament can't be cool - quite the contrary. BUT - the most important thing with any vehicle's looks is flow, and it definitley can't interrupt it. It has to work with the lines of the car, not against them. That is why Sarge's '56 ornament works on his truck - the shapes compliment each other.

Here's a good example of a handmade ornament that shows what I mean. And yes, that's bonneville salt on it. ;)

As a metal artist, I appreciate any hand made metal work. So if I saw it in person, I would probably appreciate it more. It looks like a unique piece. In the picture it looks big. It is kind of hard to tell the size. If it has some meaning to the car owner... even better.

By the way the car looks great!

Thanks for the opinions guys!

I tried to take a picture that showed the size in proportion to the rest of the car. The ornament was supposed to flow with the fins on top of the headlights, but may have gotten a little carried away.

The headlights have a 10.5inch diameter

First off, what is it exactly? It looks cool and interesting, but I have no idea what it is?

It may be a bit big, but since the car isn't a classy streamlined custom, I think it's OK. I don't like the HD emblem on it, but I am of the opinion the words Harley Davidson only belong on Harley Davidsons.

The wings might have looked better with the straight edge on top?
