hey i just found a 31 Sports Coupe close by for a reasonable price, i don't really like that style so, how difficult would it be to turn it into a roadster??

i know anything is possible, but is it practical??

i looked at Carnut.com to try to see the differences between the two, but there were only a few good shots of the back.

is the cockpit on a coupe smaller??

do coupes have rumble seats only??

do Sport Coupes have rumble seats or trunks??

any other differences???

thanks, mo

"Coupsters" never really look right, they always look like a coupe with the top lopped off. There was a teck thread on the HAMB a few years ago where the guy went to all the work to make one look right but it was major surgery.
The roadsater 1/4 panels are longer, the doors are shorter, the door posts are thinner and of course the windshield is completely different. The panel above the trunk is different and both use the same trunk lid which can be either a rumble seat or a trunk on either one and both even use the same lid, just hinge it different.

if you are just building a rat rod, it will look just fine, if you are looking for an exact clone, start off with a roadster...

hey thanks man, i went back to Carnut and now i know what to look for i can see a lot of difference.

it was pretty cheap, that's the only reason i was lookin at it, and it would be a rat rod, but honestly i really don't need another project......

but it sure is nice to dream..........

Coupe cockpits are larger.Lots of them converted
into "Roadsters" or "Coupesters' on the HAMB.

Can it look cool.Sure.

Will it look exactly the same as a real Roadster. No.
Park them side by side.Major differences.

True, Shiney had one he drove the poo out of and it was actually a decent looking rod once you got used to it. I think if you did one and redid the windshield it would make a huge difference.

It really shouldn't matter what you start with. Just only when you are finished, are you gonna want to ride in it or push off to someone else?
I like to build it to be safe and practical. if I can add some touches to make it more appealling, then I did good. I for one like both styles, so it its' up to your wants and needs.:D Just have fun and drop and chop it into a mean beast.:cool: Good luck and happy hacking........:p Maximo

FWIW, this is a 4 door cowl on my "roadster" pickup
