I`ve been wanting to try this for a while now , so this weekend I gathered up all the things I needed to give it a try, 2 1/2 gallons of molasses , 17 1/2 gallons of water , a kiddy pool from wal-mart and a couple of rusty roadster doors ........ I`ll report the results in a month when I pull them out.....

I've been wondering about some of these methods myself. 24. couldn't you told the rest of us about this experiment about 3 1/2 weeks into it so we wouldn't have to wait so long :D.

ive never heard about that method of rust removal it would be cool if it worked but i dont think i have the patience to wait a month

I figure the ants will have eaten most of the molassas long before then:rolleyes:

I think I am gonna try it also.
After removing and cleaning the de-rusted item, what do you have to do before you can paint it.
I am thinking it will need to be painted right away.

I run them under water and scrub them with a wire brush. wipe them off with a little laquer thinner and prime and paint. and yes, they do get a flash coating of rust rather quicky.

Well heres the first door I pulled out of the soup , the other still had a spot left so I put it back in.....
