A few month back I was looking for a big round roof car to practice a chop on. Had a guy call and said he had a clapped out 52 chevy for cheap, said it has a good roof and front clip but the rest was junk and the floors are totally rusted out. It was cheap so I never looked the car over to well. So today I picked it up got it home and started looking over the car. Jumped online found floor panels, support panels and rear wheelwell panels for about $600. Sure would like something to practice on but the longer it sits the more it grows on me, not sure I could cut it.

Dude! Make your own panels for zip! YOU could do that easy. Fine old Chevy
you got there. Put some rolled pans and custom tail lights on it too.
If you were to sell it cleaned up, no motor and that custom bodywork i would say 5 grand on Ebay.

They say a fleetline is one of the hardest cars to chop right. The ones I've seen done right (to my eye) took the chop all the way to the back end of the trunk and ended up with the rear fender pontoons more pronounced in the process. Good luck!!

Ditto! You have to chop the deck lid with it. If you pull this off everything else will be cake.

I have thought those GM fastbacks in the late 40s early 50s are great. Leave the roof and slam it with wide whites/gloss black wheels.

Yup, just get busy and cut it....... then fix it up and drive the snot outta it!!! You are still practicing your technique making yourself a sweet ride!!!

Yep, that's how it's done. Or take the rear section (all the way to the trunk) and lean it forward. I stretched my roof 5" in the process so I wouldn't have the fender fins, but on yours, you might do 2-3" to reduce the fin look, but it'd look good no matter.

These are one of the best styles from back in the day. They got them right in my opinion. They look like a custom, but they came that way.

No chop is my vote. I like the idea of monster power, tubbed, and bags for adjustable ride height so it can be launched hard. Make it go like hell! It already looks fast.

Regardless of what you choose to do, I am confident you will turn out an awesome ride.

Ok, so I did some google searching and found a couple ways to chop it. One would be to chop it up to the trunk and lay the trunk down. The other would be to cut past the trunk bring everything down and forward, this is more like I was thinking and the look I'm after. I wasn't to far off on what I was thinking needed to come out. So now that it is looking more like saving the car versus just a practice car. I guess i'll throw it off to the side get the Nash to a rolling saleable state and take it from there.

I found one the gasmonkeys did back in 04 and posted on the pork. Guess if I go ahead with it I'll have to call it Gasmonkey wrench in the plan[S
