Seems to me that taking a ship into known

super freezing ice berg conditions is not the brightest idea....at least not without an ice breaker escort....maybe it's just me....research of global warming seems to have backfired....must have been pretty darn cold to get their ship stuck in ICE!!!

Happened to a fellow named Shackleton once but he had a bit more of an adventure and took over 2 years to get all his crew to safety.

These Climate 'scientists' are fools - the head even took his wife and kids along! I've been following this a bit. They were supposed to be following the route of the Mawson Expedition that sailed through ice free waters there about 100 years ago and studying the effects that global warming is having on the Antarctic. Apparently they ignored the fact the amount of sea ice in the Antarctic is way higher than average this year. Could that mean the waters they would be traveling might not be ice free? Yep.

So 2 icebreakers had to disengage from their duties to go save this group of fools. The Russian crew remained on the ship - hopefully they'll be safe. One of the icebreakers is stuck itself. Somebody is going to pay for all this mess and it doubtfully will be the people from the trip. It seems to me the trip was being funded partly by the BBC and Australian Gov. - not sure.

Am I wrong in that this was a vacation cruise for climate huggers and that's why there were so many people on board?
