a google-ing we go....http://www.fordgaaengine.com/

Anyone seen one of these? the Ford GAA.
WWII era all aluminium flat-plane crank V8! DOHC (4 shaft driven cams), 32v, dual carbed, 1100ci (18Lt 😮) dual plug, and dual magneto.
Ford rated it at around 500HP at 2600 rpm and roughly 28000 units were produced, mostly for the Sherman Tank. in full military dress it weighed approx. 1000lbs; today, many versions have been restored and at around 675 lbs can be made to produce 2000 reliable HP.

Right you are!
It got banned from racing in the early 50's. Makes you wonder why it took so long to bring this kind of engine tech to the masses, Ford was still pumping out flatheads long after this engine was made. Attempts have been made to make it streetable and while it looks killer, it's not made to go over 3800 RPM. Like other tank or warbird engine powered cars, it's hard to keep a tranny together behind these beasts, although Jay Leno solved that on one of his cars.
