my baybee got me a new receiver for the truck
the stock one is pretty worthless it is a cd/cassette radio that the cd dont work and i have been using one of those crappy adapters in the cassette to play my iPod. terrible sound.
the latest stereos dont come with a cd player at all.
which is fine with me because they usually end up scratching the shot outa the discs anyway
this thing has hands free phone and i can plug all kinds of storage cards and usb devices into it and cordless bluetooth as well. i will install it today

at this point i have over 20,000 songs on the ipod so all i really wanted was a port to plug it into
all this other stuff is just gravy

A couple of months ago I bought a storage locker and one of the things inside was a HUGE tub of CD's........I mean HUGE ! I thought I would put groups of them on Ebay and sell them, but I found out they are worth almost nothing, so I pulled out the ones I wanted, pulled out some that my ex Wife would like, and gave some to my Son Don.

I still had a bunch left, mostly Country Western, which I don't like, so I took them into work and let everyone I work with dig through the pile and take what they wanted. They finally all went away, and I was happy to get rid of them that way, I didn't like the idea of just tossing them into the trash. We were joking at work that if a customer spent $100 we would give them a free CD ! :D

I just noticed the other day that my daily driver has both a cassette slot and a CD slot on the radio. It must have been in a cross over year when cassettes were going away and CD's were coming out.

I used to have boat loads of cd's at one time. Tried mini disk once too while those were out for a few months.
Over the long run I ended up ripping all my CDs to mp3's.
I don't even use an iPod anymore. I'm strictly spotify. I find I prefer to have a random collection of music, not just tied to one artist, so spotify radio works best. If I run across a song I really like, I simpy add it to a playlist. Done.

I upgraded the head unit in my truck to a touch screen, bluetooth, dvd, all-in-frekin-once unit and it's epic!
However, havnt tried a cd or dvd yet.

About 8 years ago when we moved I had close to 1000 cd's. All jazz. All on racks and set up by artist ect...... Took up way to much room so I sold them to a used Book and record store. he gave me a buck apiece and I was glad to get it.
Cd's have gone the way of the liner notes.(If you know what those are you are really an old timer).[cl
Torchie.

Same here... I've loaded all my CD's on my iPod. So much better & can carry all my music in one lil device but I sure don't have 20K songs... that's incredible! [dr

I own about three CDs, no iPod, no CD player, nothing... Just listen to the old fm radio stations..

About the same here. My 99 F150 has both cassette and CD, as does my 00 Expedition. 86 Vette has a Bose stereo with cassette. I seldom turn any of them on. I don't even have a sound system in the Lincoln. In the Freightliner, I listen to XM radio. Two channels, Fox News and Radio Classics, and sometimes classic rock.

I haven't looked at my cd collection for months...

these days it just as easy to download tunes to ipod-dy thing or cell ph. and plug that in to the car ...

you tube makes it easy .. and gives options to similar sounding musicians... great for exploring new or unheard...

or many other sites. we have "I heart radio" choose your genre and happiness filled for hours ...

my old man was in radio for years ,, yet I cant believe how much more music there is out there..

billy your missus sounds like a special girl.... hope your buying something for valentines day...
which reminds me....

And I'm still in the process of transferring my records to CD..... (Even some old 78's that are my Dad's, like some Western Swing.) What did I miss?! (I do not even own an MP3 player.)

Update
That stereo system sounds great
It turns out that the truck came from the factory with the optional high falutin infinity speakers and the new amp woke those right up.
Very pleased

My truck came with XM radio. I liked it so much I bought one for the shop. Thats all I listen to anymore.

I have about 10,000 songs inside my head for when I travel. But they get stuck and I have to listen to the same one over and over. Just did 1100 miles and listened to John Prine's Speed of the Sound of Loneliness about half the way.

Ya come home late and ya come home early..............................................

I too get one song stuck in my head, and usually it is one I don't even like ! Every morning, when I wake up, some song is rolling around in my head and I don't know where that one came from.[S

This morning it was Joan Jett and I hate myself for loving you ! :D
