I am building a 1940 5 window dodge coupe and would like to install a set if coilovers on the front I have a set of tubular upper and lower MII arms but they currently have the origional coil springs it is sitting at the proper ride height now with the origional springs with approx 1/2 of a coil cut out I would like to modify the upper spring perch and fabricate a set of brackets to support the top eye of the coilovers to try and clean up the front suspension some is there anybody with something similiar that is running this setup I have a set of QA1 with 450lb springs available would these be heavy enough I tried to kind of mock these up but it seemed the spring rate was not enough. I posted this on another forum but I am trying to get all the info I can I cannot seem to find info on a similar setup but I know it must be out there

Thanks wrench9

That was what I had expected but would like to have someone who has a similar setup. Thanks

According to my Speedway Motors catalog if the weight on the front is up to 1525lbs. and the springs are fairly vertical, then 500lb. springs are the right selection.
1550lbs. to 1700lbs on the front end, use 600lb. springs.

I temporiarly tried my 450lb springs with the spring compression adjusting nuts up all the way the springs compressed a little over 2/3 of their travel when i sat the weight of the car on them I do not have a set of scales available
Thanks

If I remember correctly, you want about 1/3 of the shock travel taken by the static weight of the car. How many inches did it compress?
