The next work that was done, was to mock up my cab and engine once ALL measurments were figured out my frame was ready to build. I cut all pieces to size, not wanting to build a jig I laid one side on the floor and shimed it level ( 6 ft stright edge), tacked it narrow edges only 4pcl's each joint then laid the other side on top clamped them toghter and tacked it as well. then I welded out the long side of the joints. going side for side to prevent the welds from pulling.next I placed my mat. for my cross member ( 1x1x1/8 wall ) on my table and shimed each piece level ,screwed them to the table. ran a center line square with the 1x1 tube next I alined my 2 frame rails to the center line and squared them to my 1x1 in a up right plane. tacked it down. the frame rails are wider in the back . then I installed the end's the frame came out square and true:D the last picture show's all the tools I used, nothing fancy:). the cost $180. for the 2x3x3/16 x30ft tube,$26. for the 1x1x1/8x20ft tube pretty happy with that cost:)

You've got a lot done already DougnDog. What is your roof going to be made of?

It's going to be sheetmetal covered with canvis I think they call it a carson top  I know the look I want, flat black canvis with a little give to it when you touch it Doug

Doug the lines are perfect. what are you going to do for a roof? cloth? it looks great.

Pablo

Hi Pabio first I'ed like to say your drawings are are realy GOOD:D:D the top is going to be sheetmetal with a canvis covering I think it's called a Carson top. it will unlach and be lifted off when you want to run open.

Doug

Help with the WIFE,,,

Could you post some closer photos of your chop and how you went about making it look nice? Like your door tops, Windshild top and back cab. I'm trying to convince my wife that this would be COOL. I think it is,,, She's one of them girls that needs a pitcher drawn up for her. She can't see it.

Sure thing man I took a lot of pic's of it in progress. I'll be glad to plot it out as I spent a lot of time on the milk box thinking about it lot of beer too. this is a hard size cab to get to look good. I'am giveing it a try:) first pic cut along the belt line about 6" above the windsheld is choped 4". it has a 2" strap of 1/4" with nut's welded on inside the windsheld post for the windwing to fasten to. on the top section ( inside face ) are straps with nut's welded for the holdown brackets.

Around the back I used some of the reinforceing chanel that came with the cab, just cut and bent to follow the line I setup. I put 1/4" x 2" straps about 30" apart. they will have locating holes for my top ( top will have pin's in it ) so it will have a positive spot to sit each time. the pic's of the door tops (sorry dont know how to turn around) I just followed the lines that I set up with the back. I left the littel hand grabs on the door top. hard to see:( the windwing was a must it will be a piece of 1/4" with 2 holes for the bracket. it will be able to adjust fwd and back. the mock up of the top is just to see the shape, to build it I'll use 1/8" flat strap formed and shaped to match, clamped to the front and back and fab it in place I will use parts from the top I cut off and fab the rest. I forgot on the windsheld top I left my cut line about 1/4" long and with plyers I bent the extra over to a 90* deg had to slice it in a few places to lay flat. that gives a backing for the sheetmetal cover you weld on. hope that makes since.
