Has anyone done or seen a 20's - 30's style pickup with a Toronado transaxle in the rear? I have seen some VW air cooled rods, but have not seen anything with a V8 and water cooled.

Keeping with my Oldsmobile roots, I often thought about doing this years ago with and S10 truck and putting the Bravada front clip on it.

Would love to see some pics if anyone knows or has seen this before.

I seem to remember seeing something like that, but can't remember where!
I have had the notion for years to take a front wheel drive car and build a trike out of it! That would be a similar notion!

i know I've seen it done, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw the pictures.

An idea I've kicked around for nearly 20 years was semi-similar. I want to build either a bathtub tourning car or a roadster truck but have it powered by a 2.2 turbo Chrysler mounted in the rear. Weird, I know, but I'm a sucker for 80s turbo cars and I have a zillion spare parts for the things.

Not a V8 in this set up, but V8's have been hooked to these a lot over the years....This is a Fiero set up if I'm not mistaken

This '41 Dodge pickup is almost exactly what you are talking about. It is owned by a fella in Kentucky and has a rear-mounted FWD drivetrain from a '75 Eldorado - same transaxle as the Toronado...

You wouldn't happen to have a side view of this truck would you? This one is lower than most full fendered Dodge trucks I've seen.

It seems like there used to be a kit car based on that set up, years ago, and there was a guy around motown that built a couple of rods based on that set up back in the late 70's early 80's. Hey it's doable......go for it !

Some of the Kelmark? I think? cars had the Toronado/Eldorado drivetrain/tube chassis option. I looked at one some time ago online that was priced cheap.

Holy Crap! [dr

You guys ROCK!

I really like the Yellow truck with the meats on the back.

This is exactly what I had in mind.

Need to start checking out prices on a donor car.

A couple creations from up here.

Toronado driven.

And this. Not Toronado or transaxle based, but too cool to leave out. 428 Ford, twin centrifugal superchargers.

I have a friend south of here who built a Chevy stepside P/U (67-72 body style) with the Toronado set-up in the bed. Don't know if he ever finished it though.

About 30 years ago a fella down here put an Olds Toronado in the back of a Dodge D50 it was very fast and kool

i got a car mag with that has a vega with tornado trans axle in... very neat setup. I will see if i can get it scanned and some details out of it for you

Rear engine monster

Years back i saw at silver lake state park (dunes), there was a guy that had a toronodo powered tube frame sand rail. Twas bad-ass. He would start up the hill, stop half the way up, the buggy would setle in, then he would take off and wheelie up the rest of the way. Was a really cool show of power... I vote yeah!!
