Hello. My name is Adam and my wife and I have decided to build a rat rod. After visiting a Goodyguys show last year with looking over quiet a few rat rods, I just had to have one. I found a 39 dodge 4dr but I am not sure if it will give me the rat rod feel that I want. The hardest part for me is starting out, I have been searching the internet for a week trying to get tips and ideas but for the year dodge but I can’t find much. I plan on using dodge running gear but think it will be more expensive, we just want something simple and low budget. I would like to maybe put a big block or maybe an early hemi in one day but just simple for now. I am in the Navy and currently living in Kenosha, WI, so parts are not easy to come by. Glad that I found a good web page that can help me along the way.

Thanks,
Adam

Wlecome, did you try Speedway for parts. Not much around here so I order everything from the US.

Speaking of which, I ordered some latches from the local shop back in December, he in turn ordered them from Speedway:rolleyes:, just called me yesterday to say they were in. Speedway usually takes 5-6 days. I wanted to tell him to shove them up his A$$. I ordered my own a long time ago.

Welcome to RRR, BigDog. First & foremost, THANK YOU for your service. I'm an Army retiree, have a step-son in the Army & a son in the Navy. Being in Kenosha, I'd guess you may be recruiting ?

A 39 Dodge is different. Lot's of rats have been done using 4 dr's. Look around & I'm sure you'll get ideas.

Welcome to the site. Did you have a rat rod in mind to go after a "look" ?

I found a 39 dodge 4dr sedan, wanted something different. I see a lot of other rat rods 2dr coupe's, trucks and such. I have a wife and 3 kids and we all love to go to car shows together so just wanted something big enough for us. I went to your wed site and your car is very nice. If you have any helpful hints that will help me in any way I am open to them.

The helpful hints are all over this site. Read, read, read. There are some really talented, no B.S. guys here who have covered every part of a build, and will cover them as long people will read it. I say, good deal on the 39 Dodge 4dr. Something different is something that people notice. Good luck, and as you have questions, get on here and ask.
