Ok. My project is a 41_46 chevy truck. I was measuring to get an idea about the chop. I think 8 inches of top chop would look cool. But I'm worried about how that would affect the driveability. Has anyone choped one this much. Any advice would be helpful.

I went with 4 inches, and I get a stiff neck driving too long in it. For looks I wish I would have gone 5 inches, I think that would have still been okay. I am over 6 feet tall.

The standard seems to be between 4 and 6 inches. I'm only 5'8" so the height isn't an issue. I thought 8 would be cool. But, the more I look at it I think I will stop at 6. Simply because the windshield will only be 3.5 inches tall making it very difficult to drive.

I would not go over 6 inches. Visibility is important with all the bad driver's out there.

You are probably right. But, if I ever get a cab given to me I'm gonna chop it 8 just to see if I can.

An 8" chop will give you just enough visibility to see the accident about to happen. This coming from a guy that doesn't defrost his windows before driving in the winter.

left me about 8 or 9 in of windshield space so i put on a visor i made to bring it down a little.

The 4th pic is one of the material the bed is made of. I have never seen this before. Not sure if this is factory or an old custom job.

That steel in the bed is some type of industrial plate (cool) similar probably to diamond plate. That other pedal on the right is the starter and the button on the left is the dimmer of course. So what we have here is a real deal old truck. This ain't no street rod , this ain't no trailer queen, this ain't no foolin'around!

What ever the metal is on the bed makes it weigh a ton. I don't know if you can see all the pedals. But there are 4 of them there is one way behind the shifter. The shifter also has a lever on it next to the shift knob. I was told that it had a rare pto transmission. I'm not real sure what that would be used for.....or if that is what it is. Does anyone know where I could find a title for the truck. The vin plate is so corroded I can't read the vin numbers any more

I can't see it in the pictures but maybe the shifter lever is a two speed rear end. It is usually a "t" handle that you would raise and lower.

I will try and get a picture of it up. It looks more like a "gun trigger" with a long rod running down into the transmission. It isn't too important...I'm not going to use it. But, if it's worth some money I could sell it for more parts

With the PTO, that was probably a boom or dump or some other specialized truck originally. Then, eventually someone fab'd up a bed for it.

No the e-brake is further over....this actually sits on the shift lever

don t know if he still has it but i can find out / get the
info on it if you want ... think its a wisconsin title if that
matters to you or not

It's a 1941 cab and nose, A 48 (I think) bed and a 78 Chev Caprice cop car chassis and power train. 350/700R4. I've had it going 90 as is. Rob
