Hi, my name is Randy, I'm in Oregon (Portland area), I'm sneakin' up on 40 and have two teenagers- and I found this forum through google.
My project is a '46 Dodge pickup, it was my dad's college vehicle in the late 60's. He drove it stock then and eventually decided to rod it out. That was the early 70's! So she's been torn apart for over thirty years..... He's had plenty of rod projects started, but not finished- He's now moved out of state and bought himself a finished streetrod to tinker with..
So I've had the truck for 13 years, in pieces (like father, like son...), when dad moved he left another unfinished project- a '72 chevy shortwide pickup that he just purchased a crate 350 for. It sat in my driveway for a time, while my wife wondered what I was gonna do with it because it was an eyesore! I rolled it into the garage, parted the body out down to the frame and dropped my '46 cab on to it. Instantly my project gained a new engine, disk brakes up front, coil suspension, and power steering/brakes.
That's about where I am now, gotta come up with steering linkage, radiator and fuel tank- not to mention interior, glass and wiring.....I'm on a zero budget and liking the idea of not buying and bolting-on all my parts, although I know I won't be able to avoid that forever!
I'll attach some photos later (they're on the other computer) and I'll describe some ideas I have for her......I'm stoked about this forum as I got no buddies into hotrods- there's nobody(nobuddy) to bounce ideas off of......
