I've been into 4x4s and rock crawling forever, but I have been thinking a lot about building a hot rod recently. Been lurking here for a while, but finally registered so I could actually view photos people are posting and so I could ask questions, etc.

My current toy is an '88 Toyota truck that I bought from the original owner in '92. Yeah it's a Japanese 4x4, but in a lot of ways it's a bit of a rat: stripped interior, home made parts, junkyard parts, dents and scratches, and so on. Started life with independent front suspension and little 28" tires, and now has a straight front axle out of an older Toyota and 37" Goodyears...

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Looks like you're not afraid to tear into something.
Yep, not afraid to cut things up and put 'em back together. But after 19 years I'm starting to get bored with the Toyota. I'll probably never get rid of it though; it's been a great truck.

Everybody needs some toys too...what's the plans down the road??[P
Since I don't really have any brand loyalty (I've had Chevys, Jeeps, Toyotas, Infinitis, etc.) I don't really know what I want to build. I'd love to do a '32 Ford someday, but don't have the budget for it now. Because of budget constraints (and 'cause deep down I'm still a 4x4 dude) I'm thinking a Jeep "T bucket styled" car would be fun...
