I like the 9 inch Ford rears. They came in both cars and trucks from 1957 thru 1979. You need to mearure the width you need and look for a 9 inch that is close enough for you to use. You can't beat the strenght and cost of these rears for any hot rod. Imo...:D

The Lincoln Mark6 can be 61 to 65 inches wide.
57-72 ford pick are 61.25 inches wide
73-86 ford pickup are 65.25 inches wide
70-85 full size fords are 60 to 65 inches wide.

I think the 46 lincoln may take a narrower rear.

i agree also you can get some good high gears with them , 273 to 1 in my last ratrod truck,, but for the car it might be to wide,,, s-10 rear end maybe better but most are 373to1,, but if you run a overdrive trans they will give you good low end and good top end! i saw where you asked aboutthe motor for your build ! if you run the chevy big blocks you, can run a 700r trans and you will have the overdrive you need, try to use one around 1993 years for the trans!!!

8 inch Ford Maverick, Comet. 9 inch Ford Bronco. These are narrower than the ones in your poll.

Just pick up a Maverick 8 inch for my 40 ford. 57 inches wide with 2.73 gears paid $100.00 for it. Craigslist buy.

Took it apart today to paint it and put under the car. The rear was in very good shape.

Maverick/Comet rears are 56.5 to 58 inches wide and the Bronco rear is 58 inches wide. The Granada rear is also 58 inchesl

well i need one about 63" and the mark 6 was about 65, while some of the trucks were about 66", i do have some room to go a little wider if need be

63 inches

70-79 Ranchero & Torino. need to watch some are 61.25

72 -79 some full size and intermediate Fords

63.50 - 67 Fairlane (coil springs)

61 inch rear you may be able to use with spacers. Get make sure you get good spacer.

I hope that helps you.

I can't recall exact years but I know the Lincoln Continentals had a 9" with, 3" O.D. .250 wall tubes. Might be a little heavier then required. I can't recall width of the top of me head either right now unfortunatly... it's Monday morning, suprised I can type...

I would go with whichever suits you width wise, any of them can be found relatively easy. You should also consider keeping the same bolt pattern you have on the front, its much easier.

What about a Crown Vic or Town car 8.8? Not exactly sure how wide they are but they are everywhere. In Houston, a drum braked axle is about $200 and disc braked are about $300.
