i am in the process of buying this from a buddy.
24 foot
he will replace some of the 3 inch thick oak planks
check the wiring ,brakes and put better rubber
$3500
it looks crappy now but once i paint it
it'll be perfect for my personal use.
with the dual heavy axles and 8 tires it'll hold anything i will need to haul.

i cant count the times i have needed to haul something big or heavy and had to borrow/beg or rent a trailer
then i have to rush to return it.
i have easily already spent what this costs on rentals.

i am getting that big white toolbox as well.
i had one of those gull wing boxes but it was gonna interfere with the 5th wheel while towing.
that box doesnt come up above the rails and is big enough for my purposes.[cl

the ram came with a hide a ball gooseneck hitch already installed in the bed.
and i picked up a like new REESE 16000lb. 5th wheel hitch on craigslist for $350 and installed it already.
It is the kind that is easily removable so i can use the bed of the truck in minutes.
this has been and expensive process but i think it is worth it.
for $17350 i got the 28 foot 5th wheel
the truck
the 24 foot gooseneck
and the hitch

and i bought all of it (except the reese hitch) from a member here.
i dont know if he wants to be named so i am keepin it on the downlow

I been paying $1000 a month on this deal.
no wonder I have been flat broke for the past year and a half!
but with this package I will be set for years to come.
I will never need another flatbed
and the dodge could very well last me the rest of my life

i wonder if sheathing the entire deck of the trailer with 1 inch pressure treated plywood on top of the oak planks would be a good idea?
we know it is weatherproof and it seems like it would be strong enough.
replacing all that oak would cost a fortune.

the reason i specified pressure treated is it is approved to be buried in earth for new home construction. it is some tough stuff it is treated with some kind of arsenic preservative that is injected under high heat and pressure.
to replace the oak i would need 10x20 feet of 3 inch thick 10 inch wide planks.

Do you have a saw mill around you area?
They will cut oak any thickness and length you want. Oak takes forever to deteriorate. Just look at any old barns.

We don't have any oak trees around New Mexico. I wish we did. I've got 3 or 4 trailers that I'd do.
