Hey Billy,
We're Sitting in Moab Utah for the night on the way to Yellowstone then up to Mount Rushmore, back through Denver for a baseball game then home in two weeks.

The only thing I would strongly recommend is buy something with 16"
Wheels and tires. Especially if you go that big on the fifth wheel. The truck will
Definitely pull it. You can't go wrong with a cummins.

I wish this motorhome had that engine in it instead of this v10 Ford.
It hurts me to say the "F" word.

that sounds like a REALLY fun trip!
thanks for the wheel info.
since i dont know squat about towing/campers/trucks/life in general.
i need all the advice i can get!

update

after 450 miles we are getting 18.2 mpg city driving.but i am going to keep tabs on it and find out what my average is after a few thousand miles.

and strangely enough,

that completely agrees with the onboard gas milage estimator. ( i didnt expect that)

yet another update
the passenger fender was all jacked
but my buddy i bought the truck from had a replacement he threw in.
i went to NAPA and gave them the paint codes and had em mix me up a quart of paint.
my buddy sprayed the fender for me and a week later i installed it.
it is a darn close match.
not quite as shiny but nobody notices except me.
while i was at it ,
i did a bit of detail cleaning.
wah-lah!

i purged and recharged the A/C system yesterday
and while it was running i noticed my harmonic damper needs replacing.
the fluid filled ones run around $400!
so i am going with the OEM one for $150 or so.
if i had the money i would go with the fluid one because it will last the life of the engine.
but the numbers say no.
every day i am getting closer to feeling like i will be able to hop in this rig and drive anywhere on this continent without any worries.[cl
and thats my goal.
this thing is getting in the way of my hotrod tinkering.

i did the fender swap in the hotel parking lot.
then i snuck that big ole busted fender into the dumpster.
and pretty much filled it.;)

shhh
dont tell!

just replaced the OEM lift pump with a FASS DRP02
throttle cable
that harmonic damper
the throttle position sensor
changed all fluids and filters and while i was at it installed an extra filter just before the new pump.
this truck is good to go.

decided i am going to "shudder" replace the heater core on the ram myself. i really REALLY dont want to do it. but i cant afford 6 +hours of labor at 80 bucks an hour. it is a huge pain in the butt to get to. i have to remove the entire dash.

Oh Zap
I've done two of them and I don't envy you
I refuse to do another one too

i dont understand why they do it like that
on my gmc 2500k
it was under the glove box on the firewall
it took maybe 20 minutes from start to finish.
and all i needed was a phillips screwdriver.
