dash is out of a 63 corvair. almost looks like a corvette dash,

on to the cab

well this truck had seen its share of farm use so this week was spent on straightening out the roof and back wall.

afterwards, i cut the door down 4 inches and made a couple rocker panels for each side, also finished up the front cowl to side panel area.

making some suicide door hinges this weekend.

hinges

home made suicide door hings, started out with some 2 x 4 3/16's metal cut it in 2.5 wide strips.

I used caliper guide bushings for the hinge pivots these fit 5/16's bolts.
the most important part is to make sure both hinges operate on the same plain. to do this i used a long piece of 5/16's threaded rod, down thru both hinges while making and welding them into place. doors open freely and are bolted to door for adjusting if needed. best thing is i have no cost in this just my time.

thanks guys,
started on the bed, a few saturdays ago, and got back on it this passed weekend. I got the 1/2 inch square tubing for the framing all welded in, i used 3/8's solid rod to bend around the custom taillight frame work. and started bead rolling the sides. i want it proportionate to the cab and want the top rail even with the main body line.
the tail light housings are caddy units.

well she's going together finally, and hopefully for the last time.

finishing up the brake and fuel lines,

then on to the motor and trans

front wheels and tires should be here tuesday, as the lake style header kit!
