well, here is the latest. undecided about the total rusted hood so all opinions are welcome. should it be left alone or painted same as body and then patina-ed up?

Please don't anyone take offense, but how's about another way of looking at this.

The only person that really has to be happy with this is "YOU". but that all really depends on who you are trying to impress. Speaking on a personal level I am only trying to impress "ME". If others think my stuff is cool that is cool but if they don't it doesn't really matter to me. I'm old and almost worn out these last 60 years have been damn hard, and I'have learned that what I think is what matters to me.

I think your patina, fake or not, is cool, damn cool as a matter of fact. But you shouldn't really care what I think.

I went to a local cruise night last month. Took my little A Bone that impress's the hell outta me. Parked off to the side as I didn't know a single dude there as I was the new guy in town. Hadn't been setting there 15 min when some lame dude walks up and said. " WE dont usually allow cars under construction here". Now boys and girls there were a couple of things in his statement that bothered me a might. For one the boy was alone so there didn't appear to be a "WE". The "ALLOW" word kinda made the hairs on the back of my neck raise up as well. I in my most polite voice informed him that him and who ever else the "WE" were had a problem. The first part of that problem was just how many of those "WE'S" it was going to take to get me and that Model A out of that PUBLIC parking lot. And #2 Was the damn thing is finished and not under construction. You see my Model A has some of that Patina thing going on. Well he must have been a married man and loved his family, because he left and didn't come back. I had, had enough of these furr balls but on that night me and that little Model A were the last car to leave. I obviously didn't impress him very much.

Sorry about the length of this post, and I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Tour old Ford is cool, but what do you care? RIGHT!!

My Model A, I would never ask it to leave......

Patina is what you have when you are saving to make it pretty. Or was it a stripper in Vegas?

Well........ what a subject. Fake or not I dig it. Fad or not I still dig it.....

But...... with the job you did on the rest of the truck & then added the hood..... it doesn't jive. Paint the hood to match the rest of the truck.....drive the crap out of it. Don't worry what others think. When you get tired of it - paint it.

I'm in the process of reconstructing my 46 ford coupe. It has original patina. The kind that comes from sitting in a field for 20 yrs. or so.....but I got lucky.

Keep it real.

Ratty -- only if all of us could be so lucky!!! yea, i am leaning more towards the hood the same as the rest. i can be very closed minded sometimes and thats pretty much the only reason i ask for opinions. my son keeps asking me if i am going to leave it like that and i always reply "i dunno, think i will change it tomorrow!" and when tomorrow roles around hes wondering why i didnt change it and i say "i changed my mind." and this goes on pretty much on a daily basis.

My self, I like a little protection on my investment. The hood would actually get some primer and added color to match the rest of the truck. :p
Now for the rest of the truck, it does have a good old look to it.
Even while my 38 IHC is waiting for the transition build, it has more rust grwing on it then what I prefer. But, for those who want rust, rust it shall be, and each to their own.

grear job on placement and wer patterns. I saw a pic on google and saved a copy for the paint scheme for my project .

Well ....... if your talking about my 46 coupe I cannot take credit for the placement of the patterns ..... they came ala the State of Kansas weather - over the last 60 years or so. I'll do my best to preserve them though.
