They're running Perry Mason here again! Always loved that show & that is was filmed in B&W. Besides watching it again... I love seeing all the old 50's & 60's era cars! Even seen them use the same Buick ragtop in several different shows. Lots of famous actors on it too!

They were great old shows. Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) came from New Westminster B.C. Canada, not far from where I grew up, we often passed by his family's business, Burr's Office supplies in New Westminster on shopping days.
My Dad was more of a fan of his later show, Ironside, along with other cop shows of the time - Mannix, Cannon, Kojak, Streets of San Francisco, etc.

if you have direct tv they have a new channel that has a lot of the old shows lone ranger, roy rogers, perry mason and matlock. fetv channel 323

Yep manix , the Rockford Files ,Hawaii Five O , Chips , Charley's Angels, My but would be glued to the little 19" tv back then there was a few more we watch but I don't remember now

I could never understand why the state kept the prosecutor, whose name escapes me, because he lost every case when he was against Perry![S:D

Joseph Cotton played the part! I can't remember the character's name either but you touched on the same thought I always had too. He should have been replaced with no wins behind his career...

These are all from back in the time when many jazz composers wrote for TV. Earl Hagen wrote a great Jazz chart Called "Harlem Nocturn" and he also wrote the theme for the Andy Griffith show.:D
And the Mission Impossible theme was written by Lalo Schifrin who is a heavy weight jazz guy. He also wrote the music for the Dirty Harry films as Eastwood is a big jazz supporter.
Quincy Jones did the theme from Sanford and son. Another heavy weight.

Funny to look at big, burly Raymond Burr now and remember what a man he appeared to be, then find out he was gay the whole time. Kept it hid most of his life, but it was supposedly an open secret in Hollywood at the time, unlike now when they flaunt it in your face. A different time for sure.

Burr did a lot of radio programs, most of the time playing either a heavy villain or a cop. One of his best was a western, based on the US Calvary in the 1870's, Fort Laramie. He was tough Capt. Quince, a no nonsense Calvary officer with an uncanny knack for making peace with the Indians at a time when most of the interaction between the Calvary and Indians was battles. If you enjoy listening to the old radio programs like I do, it's worth a listen. Probably find some episodes on Utube.
