Don't know if I'll follow thru with the idea or not, but I've had the thought that one of the PTs could be fabbed into a mini panel truck. Along the way while cruising pix of PTs, I found these shots that really surprised me on the looks. I'm still thinking a mini panel truck could be done.
These are different ideas but they are kool to me! But what are ya'lls thoughts on a mini panel???
Enjoy:

Interesting idea, Let's see an example of what you're thinking.
Still lookin for something done that way. It's just an idea I've had and the mind wanders back to it when I see one of those. Just always thought you could replace the rear side glass with sheet metal, maybe cut the doors and make double hinged doors. I'm not big on new stuff but that 2nd pic I posted you can see that a vintage look could be achieved. I've known a couple of owners of those things and they both told me the drive train is junk. I think if you fabbed up a frame and put something simple in it, a body swap might work. Guess it's the hotrod add workin. Got enough projects around here to keep me really busy till I fall over into my own pie....

l can only find one pic, if anyone has more of this car, please post them.

There's one running around here that the guy filled in the side glass and put a Stude Champion front end on.
To tell you the truth, it doesn't appeal to anyone but him.
If anyone can pull off the transformation, it's you Smallie. jmho 2C worth

I did some google searches on pt cruises. I never realized how many ugly creations people have came up with out of these cars.[S

I bought one of the first to land at my local Chryco dealer.

Soon thereafter, I saw this car at "our" race track...

... when I got home, I showed my wife the photo and said, "I'm gonna do this to your car." [ddd

She said, "like **** you are!" :D

Anyhow, I liked the 2 door conversion but I also wondered how it would look with the window filled, something more like this...

I believe they made a delivery vehicle option that was set up like a cargo van. It didn't have rear side windows.

I appreciate your vision and desire to be different. However at the end of the day you can put all that work in and you'll still have a PT Cruiser (that very few people would likely want if resale is your concern). How about findings a 30's dodge body and doing similar?

I know where a guy could buy one of those!! Lol:D

Dr. C and 21W, those are what I was looking for. They look better to me but still there would have to be some mass metal hysteria going on to get it more vintage looking. I think I'll pass. If I plan a build it would have to be something old and I'd have to have my head into it thoroughly. Don't know if something like that wouldn't stall on me. Thanks for the honest thoughts all!

Chevy makes one also. HHR and the panel version is suicide rear doors with no glass [S
Just a thought. My brother has one, nice car.
Good luck with the search.

I have thought of doing this many times. Or with one of the HHR panel van things. Anytime I talk to some one about it that ask for my man card back.....

I saw one a few years back stuffed full of Chrysler Hemi power! Looked a lot like the one Dr Crank posted, but it was still four door. The guy said it was the second one that he had built, the next one he was going to use convertible doors on, or just put a hard top on a convertible, which ever was easier.

We had one, it was a fun car to drive, cornered like a slot car. Was pretty peppy for a 4 cyl, too. It was a POS though, plagued with Chrysler wiring problems. It was the only vehicle that I ever had that when it fouled the spark plugs, they had to be replaced because they would never fire again, even after cleaning. [S I let it sit for a month one time because it wouldn't fire, cleaned the plugs two or three times, nothing. Gave up and put a new set in, fired first round! [S

Always be wary of any car that you can only find pictures from one particular angle. Usually there is a reason.
