Question about Axle Perch

I am wanting to build my own design for a spring perch and was wondering if 1/4 inch flat stock will be strong enough?

The design will look kinda like your speedway design. 4 inches wide and 8 inches long with sides being 2-3 inches tall.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Yeah, gusseted like that 1/4 should be fine. If you like, you could step up to 3/8 on the part that has the holes drilled in it and use 1/4 for the side plates.

Thanks Don and also RPM. I have looked at some of your products RPM and I thought that may be 1/4 inch steel but wanted to be sure before I build it myself. Thanks again to the both of you.
