Got a question about the runout on my rear disc brake rotor. This is a speedway weld on disc brake kit on my 9 in rear. The rotor wobbles [runout] about 1/8 inch. Is this acceptable or should I try to fix it. I loaded a video on my photobuket hme page and heres a link to it. Click on the video titled rear disc brake kit, it should work, I think?

Try this link it may work better. Don't know about photobucket...

If you can measure runout with a yardstick, something is seriously wrong. (should be thousandths of an inch)

Did you try the other rotor/hat? Does the hat clear the axle flange and "bottom" completely without interference or force? (flange needs a chamfer?)

Is the hat stamped? Check it without the rotor.

Could also be an incorrectly machined axle flange, but I would suspect the Speedway parts before Moser.

I'd guess 1/8" will give you a crazy pulsation in the brake pedal, and possibly a balance issue when driving, I agree, not acceptable...

Yes,yes and yes. The hat is thin staped steel, maybe .062 but I think it should be at least .125. The caliper bracket is .250 and I think it should be at least .375. Don't think the axle flanges are the problem, the hats are bent. I may have done it but don't know how I could have. Guess my next move is to call speedway about this.
