Scrap metal price"s way down

A friend of mine took a car in for scrap today and only got $200.00 for it. Only 6.25 per 100 lbs. Might be a good time to find donor cars and trucks now..

I'd be glad to get 6.5 ($130 a ton), it's down to $50 a ton and dropping.

I talked to my scrap yard today. He said the steel mills around us aren't even buying anything.

Guess it's time to stock pile everything for when the prices do jump back up

Good. Maybe it will deter people from scrapping old cars. I read that companies outside the USA aren't buying. Either way it kinda bites. I don't go around digging stuff outta trash but do have some tubs in the garage that I toss metal from anything that brakes. Usually good for a free lunch when I turn it in.
