I bought a 28" 5th wheel trailer recently and it had some minor issues.
The refrigerator was supposed to run on battery, household current and propane.
But it only worked on gas.
The AC would cut out on occasion and I never did know if the furnace worked or not.
Well
At the hotel I work at I met a ac,heater guy and we became friends.
He came over yesterday and found a loose connection in the refrigerator and showed me how to do routine maintenance on the ac as well as how to operate the furnace.

So now everything works great..
Total cost
$20

This was good news cuz I am broke!

Glad to hear you got it all going so cheaply!
Propane appliances you say? woo hoo

Yeah
RV appliances are stupid expensive
A new cooling unit for that fridge starts at SIX HUNDRED BUCKS
So I was all ready to start crying. :D

Those 3 way fridges hardly ever work in all three modes. Usually if you can get them to run on propane, just count it a blessing and leave it alone.

They're better than they used to be... but I know what you're saying. The old designs were crappy and many suffered an early demise. (I changed dozens of them and/or their cooling units and yeah, they're expensive!)

My garage fridge is an RV orphan... it's 17 years old and I expect it to last indefinitely. The key to long life is keeping the unit level, properly vented and clean. By clean, I mean the external tubes and fins. The inside, you can keep as dirty as you like. :p

I'm just amazed at the raw talent of the AC guy and the patience y'all have to mess with a 28" fifth wheel! I'd love to see pics of it! [cl[cl[ddd ok joking over.
That's really great when you can make friends that can help with your projects! And its even better when they don't charge ya thru the nose! Glad its working well again!

28" tires! [ddd

I hate RV appliances. The fridge in our motorhome will sometimes work on propane, but most of the time we run it on 120V. Get it cool before we leave, then plug in when we get where we're going. Got the propane working one time before we left, went down the road and it quit. Haven't fooled with it on propane since.

And those propane water heaters! Pain in the rear! Takes two forevers to get them to light, then you hope it doesn't come up a big wind or it'll blow out. Thinking about replacing mine with one of those 120V instant hot water heaters.

Around here dirt dobbers are the enemy of rv appliances. The fridges are a perculator type so you have a 120v element or 12v to operate the coils for the propane. This heats the ammonia solution to pump it though the system.Dobbers love to fill the burners with their mud nests causing them to not work especially the auto ignite ones.
