Curiosity forces Google quest...

Here's a later version with twin BB Chevys. The pump is (obviously) supplying a system of some sort, complete with a piggyback reservoir.

It looks to be connected to raise the drive shaft up into the J58, to spin the turbine up to speed for ignition. see two handled drive mechanism sticking up out in 2nd picture.
