The smaller the car, the more chance of injuries in an accident to me anyway.
But the ones in the pics have a lot of roll cages and steel to limit damage. I say what the H***, if that floats your boat, go ahead![cl.....CR

Cool enough to me, since around here it would be a rarity. If they start showing up to car shows in force, not that cool anymore. I'd give the old jalopy's a pass though - they're cool to me no matter.

I gotta ask - where are you seeing all these? Shows? The street? The interweb?

most l found on line: the blue sprint car is my cousins oringally built in 1969 in bremerton washington. he built it for the street in 1982 and it's titled as a home built hot rod. he did this car over the winter of 1981 after the track changed the rules and went to more modern style of cars.. the guy who has it now will be rebuilding it again to update the running gear and paint it orange, will post pix of it when done, oh and just for kicks he's putting in a 500hp fuel injected small black chevy. .

mine is the #13 little black dwarf car., 1100cc Vtwin honda, 80 hp.

there is three dwarf cars in arizona and 1 legend that people have em'ed about but did not send pix.

I like the old dirt modifieds. Would love to build one for the street but, to many projects started already. Would have to thin the herd first before I could ever consider starting something else.

To me personally I find them all pretty lame, with the exception of the '32 3 window. It at least seems to have SOME sort of history by the way it looks. The rest of them just look like race cars with headlights. Function yes - Style? ...not so much.

i don't see how those nascar styled rigs could be street legal---looks like they don't have any lights to me[S

as far as the others go....the truly old ones kinda look cool-esp. if there's real history to them, that'd be interesting[P

The concept is not new at all. Why stir the pot? The people who like them will continue to like them, and the people who don't will like something else.

repley to mr. bone head

[Shey mr bonehead,, no stirring at all, just looking around and this seems to be a growing trend and l was just wondering if others have noticed this.

l have the #13 dwarf car modeled after a 1931 chevy that l take all over he NW and the kids love it as l let'em sit in and crawl all over, can't hurt it and it spreads goodwill in the hot rod communitty. the parents really like that l let the kids actually touch my car. so many of the show cars they can't get near with out being told not to touch'em.

l have several show cars and trucks, just a little to knew for here as the years of mine are from 1965 to 1969 body styles.

HOWEVER, l do have a 1933 dodge 4 door that l would like to cut 18'' out and make a 2 door, plans are not quite rat but not to fancy, no hood or fenders.

if some here in the northwest could help me cut it and reweld back together and put in a roof panel. since l was injured on the job and am now disabled and can't weld anymore. that really sux as l need help and this project is on hold till then. pix of what l have and a pics of what l would like to do.:D:D:D

hope that clears up things.

thanks, later

It's something I've been thinking about doing for years, so I like it. I think maybe you'd have to have an oval track background to really appreciate them. I just haven't been able to find the right body to do what I'd like.

Sorry if I came across harsh. After your Bobber truck thread, and now this one......

Many threads have come up in the past about streeting dwarf cars. I don't recall anyone saying much bad about it. Seems like a natural. Old tin is hard to find in many parts of the country. They have a cool look, and may be a little easier to find. Plus they run out real nice.

If you make a dwarf car, sprint car, dirt car street legal one thing for sure is it will get more attention at shows than, oh say, a '32 Ford roadster for instance.:D
As a trend, it probably won't get real big, which is nice for those that have them.

As for letting kids sit in your car, that is a really nice thing to do. My son and I bring our T roadsters to shows and the little kids love them. Their folks are nervous about the kids touching the cars so they are surprised when we let the kids sit in the roadsters. It's especially nice if Mom or Dad takes a pic of the kid in the car.:)

bobber thread

just wondering as it seems to go in cycles with some things, no (insert type of vehicle here) for years and years and, BOOM, suddenly there every place ya go. l have a very curouis mind and ask a lot of questions. l do NOT ever intend to tick off anyone. if that happens l am sorry, not the intent. you have a lot of posts and l value your'e opinion.

l seen very few street legal race cars till l started puttin' mine together, then everywhere l went it seemed somebody had one.

that is why l was asking this question mr.bonehead. [and l will probably be askin' a lot more.]

What he said[cl

If DMV will issue tags, then by all means ....DRIVE IT! Mediocrity kills everything, so go ahead and "dare to be different".[cl...As I said in another thread, a rat rodder was the only one at a show full of cars and trucks to let my young son sit inside and pretend to drive. He's 8 and we couldn't get the grin off his face for the rest of the night!:D......CR
