sun roof or a open roof...

I am working on my 59 Willy and I know I want to put a sun roof in but am confused on what to make it out of. So I guess my question is, does the canvas style leak in bad weather or should I just do some kind of glass?? I live in Indiana and I want to drive it in all weather if possible, but I also love having a sunroof in a car. I was thinking if I did glass, I would make it a slider where it would lift and seat if possible. But i also love the canvas look!! Please help!!![S[S

I guess I mean glass or canvas style!! something sealed or slider vs. a snap and rollback version.

im sure with the right "canvas" material so long as its waterproof wouldnt leak if it had a lip and snap downs or something.

I built a snap top on a sh**box nissan in college. I used and old jeep top that had a rubber lip that fit in a channel at the front, and used snaps for the rest. Amazingly it did not leak.

The key is that rubber lip in the front to keep the rain from driving in.

Of course there are companies that make sliding ragtops that you can put in any car.
