I remember that now Gas. How are these guys getting the tires to bite like that?
Good slicks, Good track,Lot of VHT. When I was taking my car to the track to see what the suspension liked(shocks, wheelie bar adjustment....). One pass it spun some in first and when I grabbed 2nd the rear wheels were about 4-6 inches off the ground and ridin the wheelie bars,I was told by about 4 diffret people. The pucker effect got very tight then. It was fun tho.

Wow, that is a violent event. Pull up to the line for a quick little adreniline rush, and that happens. Ouch.

I have been reading about the theory of launching a drag car. There is a whole bunch of stuff that is going on but there is much to be said about how you set up your rear end links. Specificly the instant center and how much squat or rise you build into your car based on the instant center. The point that the ladder bars are attached to the frame or the point that the line from the upper and lowwer bars, of a 4 link, meet. The instant center has a lot to do with how hard the tires hit and when, as well as the direction of force as the rearend moves the mass of the car forward. It can be responsible for wheelies or blow overs.

.... or so I've been told.

These are really good sites.

But whatever you do, dont go on Youtube and do a search for blow overs. You will loose much time.:D

Is that for real? I watched the video several times. Looks like a video game type of stuff to me. The yellow car is too yellow for a video camera. Only a very high quality film camera could get that kind of chroma on a semi overcast day. But then again it is way past my bed time.

BTW what kind of car is the yellow car? Kinda looks like a 55 ford but the rear looks kinda like a 57 Chevy.

You can adjust 4 link and ladder bars to where it will only pick the front wheels up a couple of inches, NHRA pro stock for instance. A lot depends on how much power you have. On my old drag car, If I ran the big engine, the car would leave good but I could swap to the smaller engine it would bog and not launch worth a flip. I would adjust the ladder bars and it would lift the front wheels and pick up a couple of tenths.
