What took them SO long. GM has always had the very best talent in car designers but somewhere along the line they came out with some of the ugliest vanilla cars I have ever seen & they wonder why they've gotten their tails kikked!?!? This is finally a decent looking car as far as new cars go & at a fairly decent price. GM... WHAT took ya SO long?!?!?

Oh boy where do I start? First, GM is a classic example of execs surrounding themselves with "yes men". They basically did not pay close attention to the competition, built so-so cars while they and their yes men ass-kissers convinced themselves that the cars were great. Then they always over-hyped any new car. Remember when the first LaCrosse came out? Holy crap - constant commercials about how its going to change everything and then they unveil it....whaa whaaa whaaaa. A giant '99 Camry.

Union obligations also had a ton to do with it. They had over a MILLION retirees on the pension payroll. Even if they wanted to make a Honda killer, they just couldnt afford to build it. They used alot of Chinese parts to cut costs. It took bankruptcy to get rid of those debts so they can finally afford to put some quality stuff in the cars. Keep in mind the Jap competition has US factories in the south - no union wages and no pensions. They just couldn't compete with that.

Yap, i just cant seem to get into this new stuff ,seems like it takes a few years to grow on me?
I could'nt wait to see a new camaro drive by but when they did i just didnt like it like i thought i would ,the challengers got it beet for sure .
I hate to say it but that buick looks like every thing else to me ,seems like theres just no ''wow ''in new cars these days ???

Look at that Buick Lacross or a Toyota or Honda or Nissan or or or they all look basically the same. No imagination... like cars from 20 years ago or thirty or forty.....Buy a new car today and 5 years from now buy another one and it looks like the last one you had...America used to build the best cars in the world but now they just play follow the leader.

None of the newer cars do a thing for me either. The Challenger isn't bad, and the Mustangs kind of grab the flavor of the older ones, but the Camaro doesn't excite me at all, the front looks like a smiley face or something and the square exhaust tips are way out of place. That Buick looks just like any other car on the road today IMO. It's funny, but the only way any of the car builders produce anything cool is to semi-clone one of the ones from 1970! (ala Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger)

The reason I drive older cars is because if I were to decide today to buy one I don't know of one that I would really want. I used to know all the car makes and models on sight, but I can't tell one from the other today unless I look at the name badge.

I dunno, to me most new stuff looks like somebody else's new stuff.

I agree... I kinda thought the Lacross looks very similar to a Lexus in the rear but it's much better than this ugly thang!!!

Don, you hit the nail on the head! I used to be able to tell what year, model, engine size and just about everything else about cars from the 50's, 60's, and early 70's. Not anymore. I don't even know what year they are!
Very true about the car companies building whatever they want just to try and keep sales going. They seem to be out of touch with what the American public wants in a car today. Have you seen the Impalas? They answer that question! The new Camaro to me is just OK, nothing more. The Challenger and Mustangs look great, but do I want ot spend $40,000 on one? NO! I think what I could do with that mush cash and new cars go right out of my sight.
(I think about how many project cars I could Start, but don't tell my other half. She wants to do crazy things like buy food and pay bills!):D.......CR

IMO the factories should just build the modern drive train and let us put our own OLDER bodies on them, then you could have the modern gas econ and conv. of f.i. ect.ect. BUT the style we all love!

just think, walk into a dealer and say i need a chassis with rear wheel drive v-8 engine and a 102 inch wheel base for my rat! lol. dp1
