Hi, my name is Kai, I´m 24 and I´m from Germany.
I don´t have a Rod yet but I´m looking for one at the moment. I´m a Mechanic but since my training was over, I´ve never worked in a workshop again. Today I´m gonna look at a 1950 Oldsmobile Series 76. Maybe this is gonna be my first Rod :) Hope you guys can help me if I have some questions regarding mechanics and stuff...
Greetz from Germany :)

Hey Kai. Welcome to the forum and good luck with the Olds. Where are you at in Germany? I was stationed in Budingen in the early 90's. Spent a lot of time in the Frankfurt area. I would like to get back over there someday...

Thanks :) I hope it's not too much work for a first project...
I'm from Stuttgart area. But because of my job I also get to Frankfurt some times.

So... today I was looking for the 1950 Olds. Isn´t she a beauty? Drove more than 400km to look at her... But I think it´s unfortunately too much work to get her on german roads...

ah MAN that thing is cool!!!
Im not sure what kind of work is required to make it road worthy over there, but i wouldn't do much to it at all! Just get a reliable engine in it and go for it! Leave the rest as it sits now :) That thing is wicked!

Welcome to the site by the way!

yeah, i know... saw her and: [dr but i have to lift it higher here its not allowed to change anything at a frame and this one has a really high step notch... i also can not change the engine. in germany it would be the best to have an original car, every thing else is very difficult to get on the road -.-

Can you title it in another Euro country and take it into Germany??? Open boarders correct??? Or do they still require an inspection and MOT??

Boarders are open, that's right. but they want an inspection every two years, to see if the car is legal and if it's safe. they check almost everything; brakes, engine, body, emissions, lights, etc...
