If a person was to find a 440 six pack with a 4 speed in an old shop, what would said person expect it to be valued at. Pulled from a wreck some 30+ years ago and bought from a junkyard for a project that never happened.

To the restorers its worth mega bucks...I wouldn't expect to walk away with it as a cheap find although I hope you do!

Mopar stuff brings goofy money it seems. I just saw same Max Wedge parts at a swap meet and the exhaust manifolds had a price of $ 2000 on them.

I would have no idea what your 440 stuff is worth but I bet easily more than $ 5000, but that is just a wild guess. The six pack setup, if complete, should be worth quite a bit on it's own. I know the 66 Olds tripower setups like the one my Son has on his rpu are pricey. Last one I saw on Ebay was $ 4000 and it wasn't complete.

Are you thinking of buying it ?

Don

Would probably have something to do with year and what it came out of also!

Exactly, you can pickup 440s from motorhomes here very cheap, sub $1000...

All depends on what you are looking for.... Max wedge stuff goes very high here too, as well as hemi stuff... Not my bag to pay that much for a powerplant...

Damn, I saw a set of Max Wedge exhaust manifolds at a meet for 1000. I don't know jack about mopar stuff but had a feeling they were worth more just because in some 30 years of walking swap meets it was the only time I'd ever seen a pair laying on the ground.

I caught a pair of 440 engines some time ago in my hometown for $500 apiece, one was complete carb to pan, the other had been somewhat re-worked, no intake or carb, but everything else. Guess I shoulda grabbed those....CRAP!!!!

440 six pack and 4 speed is not your run of the mill 440 engine. A good complete 440 six pack engine and transmission to a restorer would probably run $4000 or more.

But if you can get it cheaper good for you then flip it.

I would take the time and run all the casting #'s (there are some good mopar sites). Depending on the year, matching nunbers and what it came out of it could be worth a pretty penny to the rigth person.

Check the 4 speed also, after I sold the 51 I had a left over 4 speed (not the popular 18 spline 4 speed and no bell housing) and put it up for sale for $400. I had a guy that called to look at it, flipped me the $400 no problem.

Told me if I come across a 4 speed with casting #'s yada yada with the bell housing casting #'s yada yada he would drop $3800 in a heart beat for one in good shape.

Value is alwasy a question, for some one that is worried about number matching it is worth alot, for some one that would just like to have it about 70 % less than the first guy. The big question is how long are you willing to wait out the right person because you could be sitting on it for several years.

Well, I need to look at it and make sure it's what the dufus cowboy says. He was calling it a 440 Hemi. Also I would pull a head to verify if it's std or bored before I tried to sell it. I realize all the numbers and production dates mean a lot to the right buyer but this is an engine that could have only came in a pretty desirable car. Worth a lot more if it was an E body than a roadrunner no doubt. Maybe I can trade it for cool Ford stuff or a panhead.

Mopar find.

440 SIX-PACK &4-SPEED Got to be late 60s earl 70s. The intake if complete with right carbs is worth $1500 alone and the big block 4-speed and bell-housing is another $1000. You might get lucky, advertise it by engine no. on Mopar restorers site and find the guy that has the car it was born in. Making it worth alot more. Found a DZ302,listed it on the Camaro site, sold it for $10,000 to the guy with the 69 Camaro it came in. Good luck, nice find.

How much does said person want for said setup?

He didn't put an actual cash price on it but did sell it a few years back for $750 but the guys deposit check bounced and the deal fell through. He mentioned he was interested in trading, not sure for what.

Dude, the intake manifold is probably worth $750! I'd be trying to gain possession! [dr

I would be standing in front of an ATM machine right now getting $ 750 out, if it is really a six pack four speed combo. You could NOT lose, even if you had to part it out.

Careful going to check numbers. If the guy sees you checking numbers and writing them down, he'll probably catch on to what your up to and do the same thing, then when he finds out what he's sitting on, crank up the price on you.
Sounds like he's like me, and fairly uneducated on the valuable stuff.

WB, I take it you haven't phyically seen the motor for yourself yet. Has he said the carbs and all, including the 4 speed are still there ?

Don

If its a six pack and a four speed just the intake/carbs and trans/bellhousing outta fetch 2000-2500 but if its a true 440 six pack in say a 69-70 year it outta bring three to four times that
