I want to make my rat street legal. If i cant show off my work then i would rather not build it. So i would need titles and all to the truck. Now i have access to a few different 30s-40s trucks seeing that i live in the country and half the people i know have old trucks they dont want sitting in there woods. Only problem is none of them have titles. Can i get a title for one of these trucks? if i decided to stick it on a frame of another truck could i use that title? or does it have to be the title on the cab. I also may build a frame so that may not be the case either. that is my main concern is gettin the paperwork on it so i can title it register it and drive it so please give me any info you can relating to how south carolina would handle that.

Every state is different, some are real easy and others are impossible. What state are you in and maybe a fellow rodder can help you out?

I usually just sneak into a junkyard and get plates that have some time left on them from a wrecked car. Then take those to a big car show parking lot and do the switcharoo with someone else who has a similar car to mine. Then if I ever get picked up I will just say it is a borrowed car. Much easier than going to the local dmv to find out what the state laws require. Cheaper too.

Yeah, why would anyone bother going to the DMV to get a title! [ddd

In oregon you can get titles for rigs if you have a bill of sale. they want to know the whole story on haw you bought it and what the person that you bought it from. you can also say this rig was abandoned on my property for a while now and get a storage title. there is an assembled title too. just show them all the receipts from the build and they will give you a title. the year on the title is supposed to be when it was assembled, but they will make you meet all regulation for that year of car, but if you have a 36 lets say some times you can put assembled in 1936 and they wont turn it down even though the receipts have current dates on them. call your state and ask them, but I find every person you call will tell you something different.
