I generally loath trailered cars at a meet. This weekend there is a little run/show at Devil's Tower and my friend wants me to trailer my car over. I can't drive it yet because I am waiting on the state to issue me a serial number. Should I trailer at the risk of taking crap for the rest of my life, or stay home?

I say get it out there and let people enjoy what you've done. Legal issues are an acceptable trailering excuse. :D You know once the paperwork is right you'll be driving it all over, so any initial ribbing will quickly disappear

This is my take on this issue . I took my not quite finished rat on a tow dolly to it's first show . I was a little apprehensive about doing this .I knew we were OK when we drew a crowd in the parking lot as we unloaded it . In fact many in the crowd were eager to help me and my son push it to the show area .I was given one of just 6 trophy's awarded . Over the years ( 6 ) , for various reasons I have towed it to a number of shows . I have never been given any flack by any one for doing so . If some one has a problem with the way my truck got to the show , it's their problem , not mine . Take it on the trailer and have fun .

You know what...If you have a trailer and dont want to drive your car for some reason, whats the harm? This BS about how we drive it everywhere is just that...BS.....But, then again, I just drive my truck, I dont go to shows.....lol

My opinion anyways.

agree... I'll be driving the crab out of mine, & mine is being built totally as a driving machine... but I may trailer mine to it's 1st show early next summer, if it's either not legal yet, or if I've got enough done to show what I'm doing, but not enough done yet to drive it... I figure everyone will see it driving all over later, so they'll know it's not a trailer queen

Since you said, "No soup for me" already...Well, it looks like a trailer queen and you're definitely a gold chainer so yes, you are required to trailer it. Don't forget your pop up tent and Perrier in an ice bucket.[ddd

WB, you will probably know many of the people at the show and they know what kind of down to earth guy you are. You will get no crap, maybe some good natured kidding. Enjoy the show.[cl

Drama queen with a trailer queen. [ddd

Trailer it! Your friends will always find something to harass you about anyhow.

Don't stereotype the trailer guys. I trailer mine alot, if the show is too far away. Mine is not a long distance type of car. And the one I am building has already been to several shows. If anyone was going to catch crap it would be me. I pull in with a super nice 20 foot enclosed trailer, roll out a crappy rat rod. ( I use the trailer for lots of other jobs).
I can tell you that my cars draw a crowd, and they don't care much about the trailer.

Yeah, what Bonehead said. You can't always judge a guy by how he gets to a show. I run into this guy from time to time at local shows and he almost always trailers this Rat....

....Saw him this spring and he was planning to attend the James Dean Run this fall, about a 500 mile tow! There's usually a murmur going around at the shows with folks commenting on how he trailered his car and wondering if he enjoys cruising or just the shock factor of his ride, but if you hang around till the end of the show and follow him to the back lot you get a different picture...

Park at the gas station down the road and drive it the rest of the way. Lol

But seriously who cares what others think let those who will enjoy it see it.

I vote trailer it.

Trailer it, your friends will know why you didn't drive it. If anybody else has a problem with it, to hell with'em, you probably wouldn't want them for friends anyway. :D

Absolutely put it on a trailer. It isn't like it will be a trailer queen all it's life and never go anywhere under it's own power. We trailer ours to Turkey Run and other faraway events because a hot rod with 4.30 gears and 250 miles to drive is not the most pleasant thing in the world.

And, as others have said, screw what other people think anyway. They don't pay your bills. :D

Don

Do what you have to do to get out there and have some fun with your car that you've been working on for years WB3. Don't sit home now that you've got it running. I don't own a trailer so I can't go anywhere that I can't drive to...but if I did, I wouldn't feel bad about it if I needed to do so.

Do it

My 49 did 2 car shows on a trailer. The first time it was half done but moved on it's own power. I had a bad belt on it so the first few minutes it squealed like a pig, about 200 people turned around and the crowd went silent. I pulled it off the trailer and drove it to the other side of the field into my spot, the crowd was clapping the whole time. The second time I was waiting on my vin paper work so I unloaded a couple blocks away and drove in. There is no shame in being legal”ish”:D
