To trailer or not

Should I trailer at the risk of taking crap for the rest of my life, or stay home?

The critics should stay home, not you. Take the car and tell your friends to pound sand. (They've heard it before and they'll hear it again.)

A trailer is a good thing. Some years ago, a well known street car showed up at an event on a trailer. Everybody laughed. What they didn't know, is the car had changed considerably and wasn't street legal anymore. Long story short, somebody broke on the run and had to come crawling to him for a trailer ride home. He didn't win a trophy, but he put some cash in his pocket. Who's laughing now? :D

Nothing wrong with putting one on a trailer! I drive mine to local shows, but when we go to Blue Suede in Tupelo, I trailer it behind the motorhome.

Go show it off and have fun! And there's nothing wrong with having a pop up, either! I like to stay cool in the shade!

TRAILER IT.
i am going to the good guys show in scottsdale later this year.
and havent decided if i
1 trailer it behind my 3/4 ton pick-em-up so i can ride with my gal in comfort
2 drive it alone and have her drive her regular car.
i like bringing things with me.
like luggage.... ;)

trailering

Can't believe you are even worrying about it. If your friends have negative crap to say about it ,you'll find some more at the show. Get you a wild colored shirt,a pop-up tent, fancy lawn chair and they'll just think you;re a gold-chainer Ratrodder. Make sure to post some pics of the show.

If it can not be driven for what ever reason then trailer it. If it were all legal and ran fine I would say drive it. And, yes, I have done 250 mile trips in my rig with 4:11 gears, BBC and no O/D. Also did 2400 mile round trip on a hard tail with a peanut tank and jockey shift. Am I more comfortable in my suburban on a road trip? yes. Am I more comfortable on my Bagger on a long trip? Definately! but I am stubburn and if I want my hot rod at a show then I drive it. Just my $.02[P

I go to the kalamazoo show and I trailer mine just a little far and me and the wife stay the whole wkend so we have luggage and we bring a cooler in to the show with us becouse food and drink really gey pricey after 3 days, but we always have fun:D

You are pulling our leg right? If you were really concerned about what anybody thought you would'nt have built a "RAT ROD". You funny guy WB. :D:D

trailer it! the clown's that will say something probably dont have a car to show anyway....that's called "pencil" envy:D

It's kind of funny, the guy who talked me into trailering it is one of my best friends and has been teasing me about trailering it for quite a while. I have told him the only way he would ever see it on a trailer was if it broke down and needed a ride home. I do not plan to make it a habit but someday I might trailer it to my daughter's home in east Texas so I can drive to Austin for the Lone Star roundup.
When I started the build, I had dreams of driving it from Brownsville to Anchorage, doubt that will ever happen now since most of the gas stations on the Alcan have closed now.

Car show was fun. We had the only 2 "not shiney" cars there but got a lot of attention. When we left the guy told us if we bring 5 next year they will have a category for us. That is cool since they only had cars and trucks. There was about 75 cars entered.

good on ya

now ain't ya glad it went, even if the rod was trailered:D pics:confused:

l have done the show thing many times when my projects weren't running, and as mentioned, always had the rod crowd help push on and off the trailer.
l got lots of questions on how l did this or that and when's it gonna be running.

here at the end of the month there is a show called ''unfinished nationals'' just for rods in progress, it's great to see some of the work before being covered with paint, interior or what ever else. and you can bet, most of them's trailered.

l took the circle track car a few times 20 odd years ago, that had to be on the trailer, though l would have loved to drive there.[ddd

Later

I'm trailering to the Redneck Rumble next month...

Not being much for shows, this was my first. I had a lot of old guys around my car several times. They really checked out the rear suspension. But I found it amusing how little most of them know. Nobody seemed to recognize any of the parts, one old guy ask me if it was a 32 Ford grille, no it's a 34 Chevy. Another old guy was real interested in the rear end and I had to tell him it was a Ford 9 inch. Then he wanted know how you could tell what year, so I had to give him a primer on what I know about 9 inchers, which doesn't take long.
The inter action is fun, I never get upset because people are not educated about stuff or ask what color it's going to be when it's done (legitimate question because I do plan to paint it)
