I thought tomorrow would never arrive, but we are finally here. We are taking my 27 to the Billetproof Drags in Lakeland, Fl. tomorrow to see what it will do in the 1/8. I am SO excited, haven't been down the strip since about 1978 or so.

We got the car loaded on the trailer today and I think it knows it is going to race, sure sounded pretty good through open headers and was pulling pretty strong. :D Hope to see a lot of our Florida buddies up there.

I may never put the slicks back on my rpu. :D

Troy, skip the boat trip, you can do that anytime. BP is only once a year and you will say you have never had so much fun in your life, if you have never been to one of them.

Hope to see you there.

Skull, it was raining cats and dogs here the beginning 4 days of the week, but it looks like tomorrow will be like today...........dry and warm. I plan on taking lots of pictures and videos, so will post them when I get back.

A good day at the racetrack is better than.....anything I can think of.

A bad day at the racetrack is better than..... anything I can think of.

Good luck, have fun, and "keep the shiny side up". :D

Thanks for the well wishes, guys. :D My plan is to make a couple of very easy passes to get used to the track, and progressively get my foot deeper into it. I've never really opened this car up all the way yet..........well, one day I did see 7 grand in second gear, but generally I have not pushed it hard. :) Low gear is pretty much smoke city, it gets a little out of shape in second but starts to hook up, and it holds pretty well in third. So there will be some getting used to it for me. Plan to drive it out of the hole then hit it at the 60 ft mark.

My Son Dan has to work, but my Son Don and his GF Taylor are going with me, so we will make Taylor the official videographer. Wish I had one of those GoPro things, but at least my digital camera takes pretty good videos.

Hope I can sleep tonight. :D

Don Staging

Great day at BilletProof Drags...even if the announcer kept calling it "BulletProof".:D Lots of amazing cars. Here is a picture of Don staging. Was great to meet Don and his son...wish I had more time to chat with them.

I'll post the rest of my pictures under the photo section titled "BilletProof Drags".

Troy, it was equally nice to meet you and put a face with a name.:D I had a blast. My car wouldn't hook worth a darned , even in second gear, but I still managed a best of 7.90 @ 92 mph. I only red lighted once and managed to keep my car from getting wrecked or blowing up. Had to repair a broken oil line, but there was an Ace Hardware 3 miles away and we got it fixed really quick.

Made about 6 runs and the car still seems to be running ok, so I guess pushing it hard didn't hurt it too bad. I only have one YouTube so far, I had my camera on the small size setting so it is a little grainy, but will post a better one if the ones my Son took on his camera come out better.

Here is the YouTube I have.

I wish you could have too, SF. I was kind of in a fog all day because of being so intimidated by the whole racing thing, so there might have been a lot more RRR guys there besides Troy. If any of you ever run into Troy you will meet one of the nicest guys around, we really enjoyed talking with him.

A HAMBer posted a video from his dash cam with me in the left lane. I have never seen my car from this perspective, so it was cool to see.
