Haha, the reason I quit at 6 runs was I floated the valves on one run (I've had this engine to 7 grand before with no problems so I must have really overwound it) and on the next run my times were off, so I figured any more pushing it would not be in my best interests. :D

I wish you could have too, SF. I was kind of in a fog all day because of being so intimidated by the whole racing thing, so there might have been a lot more RRR guys there besides Troy. If any of you ever run into Troy you will meet one of the nicest guys around, we really enjoyed talking with him.

A HAMBer posted a video from his dash cam with me in the left lane. I have never seen my car from this perspective, so it was cool to see.

Thanks Don! Feel the same way about you guys as well! It's great to put a face to the name. Definately will be at Turkey Rod Run this year and hope to meet others...next up though will be the Nostalgia Drags on the weekend of 11/5&6...I'll post up some more pictures from that one as well. If anyone is going let me know.

There's a very good pic of Don (the man) sitting in staging over on the H--B site.

Handsome Devil! Fast roadster. No wonder the beach bunnys like to use his cars for photo shoots.:D

:D

That and the fact that he's a famous California car builder!!!

I think it was the helmet that did it. Women just can't resist a guy in a crash helmet. :D

Thanks. I am not ashamed to say I was pretty nervous every run. Never knew what the car might do and I have never driven it that hard or fast.

When I made my first pass the other day I had the timing set where I run it on the street.......it runs good there and runs cool, so I put a mark on the distributor and block and keep it there. When I made my second pass I advanced the distributor a bit and it really liked it there. It was much stronger out of the hole and when I hit second it went to the left pretty good and smoked the tires almost all the way through second. I was turning my best times of the day. But as the day went on the car started slowing down both in mph and et. I figured I had hurt something, so I quit racing while I was ahead........I had enough fun anyway by that point.

Today I decided to go for a little ride in it to run some errands and while I was at it I decided to put the distributor back on the mark where it runs best on the street. What I found was that during the day my distributor had retarded itself quite a bit and was retarded twice as much as I had advanced it ! In my haste at the track I must have not tightened up the clamp enough and the counter rotating distributor turned itself backwards.

I set the timing back to the mark and it drove just like it always did. I kept telling Don something was wrong those last few runs because my rpms would drop from 1200 to 600 or 800 after a run, and I was thinking fuel pressure. That Cuda that beat me on one run turned a slower time than what I had been running but I just chalked it up to driver error. At least I am relieved to see nothing mechanically was my culprit.
