I just heard some tornados hit near Peoria Illinios and I know we have a few members in the area. I hope everyone is safe. The storms are suppose to be heading our way in Indiana. Hopefully nothing to eventful.

Hope they are safe.

We had a little bit of rotation but most of the storm passed just to our west and north. I'm going to go check out some of the rural area destruction in a few.

I didn't far enough north to see most of the damage and the county to the north west of me is under a state of emergency so we can't go there.

definitely some wild weather yesterday.. it was 68 in the morning and 30 degrees cooler after the stroms went through..

A little late in the season for this kind of foolishness isn't it? Awesome pix!

Not really. Worst thing about November tornados is it's already below freezing at night and now a lot of people are homeless or at least without power.

6 Dead across the midwest last I heard. Most houses have basements in this part of the country, or that count would surely be higher. When you hear that freight train comin, you gotta git below.

This is where it hit in Washington Il.

The NWS has confirmed 23 tornadoes in Indiana alone. That's not counting all the other states.

When i was growing up in MO it was always over by the end of summer. Except for one year just before i got away from there. Sounded like a trumpet as it went over my house in January.

Wow, that is just awful. Hope no one here has been too badly affected.
People often ask how can I live where there are hurricanes. I tell them that a hurricane doesn't "just happen" like an earth quake or a tornado. We get some notice - usually several days.

Seeing that house upside down reminded me of a story a guy i worked with told me. They had just gotten in the car and started to leave when the house flipped over like that one.

My brother sent me this link - satellite map before and after.

Interesting beyond the destruction. You can see scrub lines in the fields. One row of houses is left standing while the rest on either side are destroyed. Outside of town, two farm houses got hit, but within 1,000 feet on either side are two churches, where a lot of people where, neither got touched. The debris field...

when i was a kid in Iowa i got to see tornado's and what they can do first hand.
they are hypnotically beautiful and super dangerous.

Yeah, something you definitely don't want to try sticking your finger in. Well.... maybe you would Billy.
