i have a 1957 235 stovebolt with the original 3 speed trans. i want to upgrade to a newer 4 spd. i can get a hold of an 85 s10 4 speed standard with an external clutch. i have read that the 80's s10 transmissions can bolt easily to a 235 bell housing with little alteration. does anyone know if this will work correctly? i do know the input shaft will be longer then the original and i need to get a new clutch pad that is similar in diameter and correct splines.

thanks for the input. was wondering what kind of spacer to use or in last case scenario was to cut the input shaft down some.
