Thanks for all the kind words! We got the transmission tunnel done today. By bending it to the shape of the bell housing instead of round we gained about 2 more inches inside the car. Had to put a couple of round bumps in the side to clear the transmission pan, because it sets so high, but now there is plenty of room for the gas and brake pedal. Put the steering column in todaytoo. Next will be the driveshaft tunnel and finish the floor.

Is there enough room to do a scoop from under the car to take in radiator air?

This thing is cool. One of the fastest cars in town when I was a kid was a V8 Volks.

When first I met Terry maybe 40 years ago he was building a V8 Volkswagen. Small block Ford that time. Although that one was cool I like this one much better. Nice tin work fella.

We got more progress done, got the seats narrowed (posted how to do on "5 pounds of seat in a 4 pound car") and installed, the shifter installed, the gas pedal installed, the battery box cut in and installed and mounts for the fan. We put the seat info seperately to help others that are not following this thread. Got all the gauges in the dash and spiffed it up with some aluminum and engine turned panels, just waiting on the gas gauge and sender, should see them on Monday.

OK............ not to be mean........ but.............. [S

all that time and effort to make the car look so good and to put that V8 in. Then made those nice dash panels..... and put plain old Autozone Sunpro gauges in it..... [S

Are there future plans here? or is that what you were planning on leaving there?

http:/flic.kr/p/cp9g65 most of the people I hang with are into cars and like to change things. I have more cars, motorcycles and boats than I have time for. Me and my wife Lee build these cars because we enjoy it. We will drive this car for a short period of time and some one I know will end up with it and change things to personalize it, so I put the money where I think it counts. We built this henry J last winter, (check the builds section under henry J by Bob W) the url is what it looks like today, it belongs to one of my friends and as you can see it changed considerably, but he changed the sunpro gauges to vintage stewart warner gauges.

If you put in $400 worth of gauges you would be lucky to get $100 more for the car. Your are right, put the money in the important underneath stuff. Anyone can change gauges later.

I understand. I didn't know you were building it then getting rid of it. I thought maybe you were building it to keep for a while......

More progress on the VDubb. We got the gas tank installed and the grill fabed and installed, dip stick for the transmission, made of rubber! (I put the "how to" in the tech tips) Got the hood on, lots of room for the carb and air cleaner. Super happy about how it is comming out. [;)
